Nomex fibres from Dupont are flame retardant and extremely heat resistant. Fireproof, however, as can be read everywhere on the net, is not. According to the definition (DIN 51 060), however, only materials with a cone drop point greater than SK 17, which corresponds to about 1500 °C, can be described as fireproof. In the textile industry, one speaks of "fireproof" if the material can withstand class A1 & A2 (surface & edge ignition) for 10 seconds according to EN ISO 11612:2015.
